The Light Aircraft Association's Pilot Coaching Scheme is a nationwide mentoring and flight coaching programme that gives LAA members access to experienced CAA-qualified instructors and examiners for licence revalidations, renewals, type conversions, differences and familiarisation training, tailwheel and strip flying instruction, refresher coaching and specialist skills development. Rather than focusing solely on licence issue, the scheme is designed to improve long-term airmanship, confidence and safety, with coaches providing personalised guidance across a wide variety of permit, vintage, microlight and light aircraft types.
Operating through a network of coaches located across the UK, the Pilot Coaching Scheme supports pilots at every stage of their flying journey, from transitioning to a new aircraft through to advanced skill development and ongoing proficiency training. Coaches are selected for their extensive experience on LAA aircraft and are able to deliver practical, flexible instruction tailored to individual needs, making the scheme a valuable resource for recreational pilots looking to enhance their knowledge, maintain their qualifications and fly more safely and confidently.
