About Sherwood Flying Club

Sherwood Flying Club is a non-profit, member-owned flying club and flight training organisation. Founded in 1957, the club functions as a cooperative community dedicated to making general aviation accessible and affordable. Operating on a non-commercial basis, all surplus funds are reinvested into maintaining the club facilities, reducing flight rates, and supporting aircraft upkeeps for its growing member base.

The club delivers flight training for the Private Pilot Licence (PPL), as well as supplementary ratings such as Night and Instrument Rating (Restricted) IR(R). Utilising a fleet of well-maintained, four-seat Piper PA28 aircraft, Sherwood Flying Club offers affordable aircraft self-hire for qualified private pilots alongside structured ground school modules. Beyond individual training and solo renting, the club fosters a strong social atmosphere by organising airfield trips, flying competitions, and group fly-outs across the UK and continental Europe.
