About Westair Flying School

Westair Flying School boasts over 80 years of operational history across four generations. Operating from a fully equipped coastal airfield base, the school provides a flexible modular path for pilot training, taking students from initial trial lessons to advanced certifications. Their training offerings span the Private Pilot Licence (PPL), National Private Pilot Licence (NPPL), Night Rating, Instrument Rating (Restricted), Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), and Flight Instructor ratings, utilising a diverse fleet ranging from light Cessnas for basic training and hour building to modern aircraft like the Diamond DA50.

In addition to flight instruction, Westair operates as a multi-service general aviation hub supporting aircraft owners, corporate clients, and aviation enthusiasts. Their CAA Part-CAO approved engineering division delivers aircraft maintenance, defect rectification, and servicing packages at both Blackpool and Barton aerodromes for aircraft under 5,700 kg. Westair also provides corporate aviation solutions—including aircraft hangarage, sales, charter, and flight operations management—and works alongside its sister company, 737Pro Ltd, to offer Boeing 737-800 simulator experiences and professional dry-hire capabilities.
